Oak Shores residents can register cell phones with SLO County reverse 911 system

–The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has added the community of Oak Shores at Lake Nacimiento to the Reverse 911 System. Because that community is affiliated with a Monterey County zip code, residents who live there had difficulty accessing San Luis Obispo County’s Reverse 911 system, according to the sheriff’s office. That issue has now been resolved and the sheriff’s office is recommending that all residents who live in the Oak Shores area of Lake Nacimiento register their cell phones to receive urgent alerts about the Chimney Fire.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone who lives in San Luis Obispo County to register their cellphones with the Reverse 911 system to receive information on evacuation orders, missing persons, Amber Alerts, etc.

To sign up, go to the Sheriff’s Office website at slosheriff.org, click on resources on the home page, and select Reverse 911 on the drop down menu. From there you will be prompted to input cell phone information.
